Since 1996, the painting has been managed by a foundation whose aims are to preserve the painting and make it available to the public.

The ‘Foundation for the Panorama of the Battle of Murten (1476)’, based in Murten, was established on 16 October 1996. The municipality of Murten has donated the panorama to the foundation.

Objectives of the foundation

  1. To publicise the value and significance of this cultural asset of national importance.
  2. To conserve and restore the panorama in accordance with binding principles.
  3. To find a permanent location for the panorama so that it can be shown to the public on a permanent basis.

Despite several attempts, this latter objective could not be realised due to land classification and lack of funds not yet been achieved.
